Fiat Chrysler picks Google, Samsung for global connected-car system

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said on Tuesday it will use technology from Google and Samsung to connect all its vehicles by 2022, providing music and video and facilitating future car-sharing and self-driving capabilities.FCA will use Google's Android operating system globally instead of a mixture of software that varies by region, a spokesman said. The automaker will also use a cloud-based digital platform from Samsung's Harman unit.Unlike its rivals General Motors and Ford, FCA has spent virtually nothing on developing self-driving vehicle technology. This saves the company large amounts of money, but makes it reliant on outside parties to provide technology and systems.FCA said it will launch the new capabilities in the second half of 2019. The company said the system will aid owners "by predicting maintenance needs, locating fuel and charging stations, receiving traffic prompts and restaurant offers and providing live customer-care assistance at the push of the button."

Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) ว่างแผนที่จะเชื่อมต่อรถยนต์ของตนเองทุกคันในปี 2022 โดยใช้เทคโนโลยีของ Google และ Samsung สำหรับการใช้งานทั้งด้านการบันเทินในรถยนต์ และเพื่อรองรับระบบ การใช้รถยนต์ร่วมกัน (Car-sharing) และ รถยนต์อัตโนมัติ (Autonomous Vehicle) ผ่านระบบปฏิบัติการ Android ของ Google และ Cloud-based Digital Platform ของ Samsung และเนื่องจาก FCA ไม่ได้มีการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีรถยนต์อัตโนมัติด้วยตนเอง จึงต้องมีการพึ่งพาบริษัทอื่นในด้านนี้เพิ่มเติมด้วย FCA จะเปิดตัว การทำงานของระบบ Connected ใหม่ในปี 2019 ซึ่งประกอบด้วย การพยากรณ์การเข้ารับการซ่อมบำรุง ระบุตำแหน่งสถานีประจุไฟฟ้า หรือสถานีเติมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิง แจ้งสภาพการจราจร เป็นต้น

                  Chinese property company Evergrande Group will start producing its first electric vehicles in June as part of a goal to become the world's largest new-energy vehicle company within the next three to five years, according to its chairman.Hui Ka Yan made the comments at a conference in the eastern city of Tianjin over the weekend, according to a statement published on the company's website on Tuesday."The new energy automobile industry has a huge market prospect. Evergrande has completed the entire industrial chain layout in the field of new-energy vehicles," Hui said.He also said that Evergrande plans to start selling its first EV model globally "soon", which will use technology from Swedish carmakers Saab and Koenigsegg, and drive systems from Netherlands' e-Traction, according to the statement.Evergrande, China's second-largest property developer by sales, has been aggressively expanding into the auto industry in search of new areas of growth as the Chinese property market slows.Its subsidiary, Evergrande Health, invested in vehicle manufacturer National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB and Chinese auto battery maker Shanghai CENAT New Energy Co. this year. It is also the majority investor in Swedish supercar brand Koenigsegg.Not all of its investments have gone smoothly, however.Last year, Evergrande Health bought 45 percent of Chinese electric vehicle company Faraday Future as part of a $2 billion plan but the deal eventually turned sour. The companies have since ended their legal fight.Sales of NEV vehicles have remained a bright spot in China's car market, jumping 61.7 percent in 2018 to 1.3 million vehicles even as the overall car market contracted for the first time since the 1990s. China's biggest auto industry association predicts NEV sales to hit 1.6 million this year.
