AP Honda, the local distributor of the Japanese motorcycle brand, has upgraded its market and sales projections for 2019 amid shrinking sales in the first half of this year.

          Honda, the biggest brand by market share in Thailand, previously forecast the overall motorcycle market to stand at 1.72 million units sold in 2019, with Honda aiming to sell 1.36 million.

          Shigeto Kimura, the newly appointed president of AP Honda, said the company has revised up both projections. The market is expected to reach 1.75 million units, down 2.2% from last year.

          Honda itself plans to sell 1.38 million motorcycles, a 1.4% drop. With the new projections, Honda would capture a 78.9% market share in Thailand this year, up 0.4 percentage points.
